One of my very good friends, Mr. Andrew Jackson, came to visit me recently and I miss him a lot. He was in Los Angeles all summer working with Roswick and we could barely see each other, but we planned on doing tons together when I finally went back down south for school. Two weeks before I left for school, Mr. Andrew Jackson decided to move back to Redding to work as a music engineer at The Soundhouse. This was ok, as we two brilliant weeks together and he was/is super duper happy, but I miss him. The presidential hole that resides in my hear has not been filled by his presence. So, this very quickly and poorly made playlist (Sorry, it's my first one in awhile, get off my back, I was rushed, JEEEEEEZ) is dedicated to him and all those out there missing someone back home. (Actually, Miss You is really the song most dedicated to him and what the whole playlist was based around. I cannot stop listening to Between The Trees).
Summer Never Lasts:
"What Part Of Forever" by Cee Lo Green
I forgot Cee Lo Green has really made it onto the scene with his "Fuck You" song. But this song's sound summarizes summer and feels like lemonade on a hot day.
"Time Is A Runaway" by The Alternate Routes
This song is just good. And reminds us that time keeps moving forward, even when we want it to stand still and last forever.
"I Lost You" by The Walkmen
I wish you were still along / I waited a long time / All for you / I waited a long time / I lost you.
"Life On Earth" by Band Of Horses
Life on Earth is changing / Life on Earth is ending / And time on Earth is ending / And time on Earth is changing.
"Combination Kept Memories" by Daniel Harrington
Written and performed by talented musician Daniel, I'm proud to say I know this guy and that not only is he good in music, he's good in heart. It shows through in his music and I highly recommend checking him out. Whenever he gets his cd ready for worldwide for mass consumption, I'll link it for you.
"Your Long Journey" by Alison Krauss & Robert Plant
I have a penchant for songs with acoustic guitars that should be played on an open in Tennessee. I think I'm meant for Nashville.
"Bring It On Home" by She & Him
I'm obsessed with Deschanel.
"If You Forget Me..." by Devics
I discovered this band in the midst of KSDT's huge music selection. Really need to look more into their music collection. They've got a vinyl collection I melt over.
"Goodbyes Are Sad" by Starflyer 59
Goodbyes are sad/ You're the best that I wish I had / To wait a million more
"Yesterday We Had It All" by Hundred Year Storm
Be strong and take heart / And tell me / You'l never let go
"Winter" by Joshua Radin
I could have lost myself / In rough blue waters in your eyes / And I miss you still / Oh, I remember the sound / Of your November downtown / And I remember the truth / A warm December with you
"No Sound But The Wind" by Editors
This is one of my most played songs. I think it is beautiful and an ultimate romantic.
"Miss You" by Between The Trees
For you, Andrew. I wanna stand next to you for awhile.
"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) [8/25/2010]" by American Idiot Broadway Cast
This summer playlist closes with a song from one of my favorite experiences of the summer and of my life--seeing American Idiot on Broadway. I know you may not like the album, it's been overplayed, but this play is really amazing. Gives a whole new meaning to "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and I'll never be able to think of the song in the same way again. This song is the encore from the actual performance I saw.
Hope you enjoy, little darlings.
